Re-membering: A Sister Project

Re-membering: A Sister Project is a collaborative art project, created with Serian Strauss, that explores a journey of healing and the transformative power of making healing visible. Our project embodies a ritual - the honoring of Orisha, ancestors, family and community. Completed during the summer of 2015, this body of work includes seven multi-media pieces using found windows and doors that were transformed into structures that hold three dimensional sacred objects. Each piece serves as an alter space for Orisha and Ancestors, and calls on specific healing energies for the community to interact with. The project was funded by the Akonadi Foundation and exhibited at Destiny Arts Center in Oakland, California.
